Percussionist Ravish Momin holds a B.S. in Civil Engineering from
Carnegie Mellon University, and has studied drumset extensively with
Andrew Cyrille, and Bob Moses, and has also studied North Indian and
Middle-eastern percussion. He has worked with a wide-range of
musicians in Jazz, World-Music and hip-hop. He was recently awarded a
US Artists International grant, in conjunction with the National
Endowment of the Arts.He has also performed at major festivals in
Portugal (Jazzin' Tondela), Poland (EraJazzu), Finland (Kerava Jazz
Festival), France (Sons D'Hiver), Canada (Guelph Jazz Festival),
Germany (Documenta 11 & 12), Israel (Tel Aviv Jazz Festival), the
Taipei Arts Festival (Taiwan), the Chicago Jazz Festival, the
prestigious Smithsonian Institution's Freer Gallery, and many others.
He has also recorded for the Delmark, Entropy, CIMP, Bleu Regard and
NuBop record labels. He has just released his follow-up CD, as a
leader, entitled "Miren" on the Portugal based CleanFeed Label.
